Earth Hour 2008: Planet saved. Phew!

For places which rely heavily on hydro-electricity, what are we actually saving here. I understand that in some places where electricity is produced using fossil fuels, fewer greenhouse gases were produced during earth hour. But what about places that create their electricity from water-powered turbines?
