Cancer cells made into human form (not for fun)

Cancer cells grown in the shape of a human... sounds kind of gross and ghoulish when you first hear about it, no? But keep reading: this experiment wasn't just done to amuse bored lab workers. As New Scientist magazine reports, researchers at the university of Tokyo, Japan took cells from a liver cancer culture, added them to the connective protein collagen before pouring the result into human-shaped moulds. The scientists say this makes the cells behave more like living tissue, and means future cancer research (such as the screening of new drugs) could be more precise and effective.
Let's just not keep calling the end result a "living doll", okay? That is ghoulish.
